About the Book
Jute Basics’
is intended to be treated as a hand book for jute. The purpose of
the book is to introduce ‘Jute’ with its versatile attributes to the
prospective consumers and the environmentally conscious people of
the world. It mainly aims at catering to the need of the users, the
industry, the academicians and the dealers in jute and jute
products. The book contains core information about jute including
technical and scientific descriptions to the extent that would
enable interested readers from varied backgrounds to know and
understand jute. It is hoped that this book will provide a better
understanding of the more important aspects of jute as a raw
material and the basic processes involved in converting this raw
material into various products.

About the Authors
The different
chapters of the book have been authored by several subject experts
in the field of Jute Agriculture (Dr MA Sobhan), Jute Physics (Dr D
Sur), Jute Chemistry (Dr MN Amin), Mechanical Processing (Dr P Ray &
Mr A Mukherjee), and Chemical Processing (Dr AK Samanta & Dr TK Guha
Roy) Jute products (Dr ABM Abdullah), Market of Jute (Mr FH Bhuiyan
and Mr C Roul) and Eco-status of jute (Dr TK Guha Roy), while the
development of jute over a century has been written by Mr Sudripta
Roy, Secretary General of IJSG.
The quality of
