Thermoplastic Composites |
|
| It
is a moulding incorporating synthetic polymer fibres or resins as binders/matrices, which
can be modified by the application of heat. The
most common polymers used are polypropylene, polyamide and polyester. The use of natural
fibres as reinforcement for thermoplastic components is a relatively new phenomenon. |
|
|
| Among the thermoplastic composites, natural fibre panels are in common use
as door panel, dash board and boot liners, parcel shelves etc. in the automotive sector.
Established benefits for the automotive industry include good mechanical properties,
occupational health issues and lack of splintering in accidents. |

|
Jute can
be used to reinforce polypropylene and moulded into products with improved physical
properties. The basic advantages are that jute (in short fibre form) can act as both
filler and reinforcement, with a consequential cost reduction element. Jute reinforced
plastics can be used for various applications like packing crates, multipurpose boards,
toys, garden fences, outdoor furniture etc. |
