Internship: |

| |
Internship is
an on-the-job assignment that corresponds with educational/
instructional programme of an intern who works with an emphasis on
education. Interns are usually college or university students.
The internship
is a curriculum requirement. The BBA or Graduation Internship
Program prepares the students for entry into the highly competitive
job market by providing the students an opportunity to:

Work with and learn from a
guide/supervisor/mentor
-
Demonstrate initiative and build
self-confidence
-
Learn and practice job skills
and behaviours in a supervised work setting
The internship
would help an intern to enhance his/her academic knowledge,
professional preparation and personal development. It would foster
an international understanding and help talented youngsters from
local and abroad find their ladder in what will be successful
careers for them. |

IJSG Internship programme: |

| |
|
|
| |
The
International Jute Study Group (IJSG) is an intergovernmental
organization, established under the auspices of UNCTAD, and is the
International Commodity Body (ICB) for Jute, Kenaf and Allied fibres
with Headquarters in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
IJSG, being
staffed with experts and having excellent facilities of a Library &
Resource Centre, offers internship to local as well as foreign
university students aspiring to work/study on various aspects of
jute and jute products. The IJSG Secretariat would guide and provide
the interns hands-on training in doing an in-depth study on jute
related topics as well as various research and development
activities of the IJSG. |

Eligibility of the interns: |
|
| |
|
|
| |
To take part in
the IJSG internship programme, the following minimum eligibility
criteria would be considered necessary:
-
Applicants may be enrolled in or recently completed a degree
programme of a University (second university degree or higher)
both at the time of application and during the internship.
-
Students should have good command (spoken & writing) in English.
-
Duration of each internship would be three months (may be
extended based on need and performance).
-
The interns should be willing to work in International
Organisation.
-
The interns should be prepared to face challenges and adjust
according to the need/requirement.
-
The interns would have to submit a report (two copies) on
completion of their internship to IJSG
-
An internship could be terminated by the Secretary General, IJSG
with one week’s notice.

Motivational Allowance/Support: |
|
| |
|
|
| |

The IJSG
Secretariat may offer the interns a motivational
allowance/support. The local interns may be given financial
assistance/allowance equivalent to US$ 100 (US Dollar one
hundred) per month in Bangladeshi currency while the foreign
interns may be given financial assistance/allowance equivalent
to US$ 200 (US Dollar two hundred) per month in Bangladeshi
currency to cover their accommodation expenses subject to the
provision/availability of funds in the IJSG Administrative
Budget. Offering of financial assistance/allowances to the
interns will be decided by the Secretary General on merit of
each case.

For the
overseas students the IJSG Secretariat would assist them in
finding an appropriate/suitable accommodation as per their
requirement and capability and also give them ideas/information
about the surrounding areas.
-
The IJSG
Secretariat would provide stationery along with other available
facilities and would endeavour to make arrangements for visit to
Research Institutions, Jute growing areas and Jute mills, etc.

How to apply: |

|
| |
The interested
students should send their applications to the Secretary General,
IJSG along with a formal request letter from the proper authority of
their educational institutions. The applications should include
his/her bio-data and two recent photographs.
