Productivity
Improvement : |

The PSCB emphasized the need for improving productivity in the jute
processing industry and decided that: |
|
|
|
1. |
IJIRA will coordinate the development of common data base and standard
productivity norms in consultation with BJMA, BJRI, BJSA, IJMA and PJMA. |
|
|
2. |
As an immediate short-term measure, the existing machinery in jute mills
need to be improved with 25% increase in productivity. Suitable steps may be taken in this
regard. |
|
|
3. |
A quantum jump in technology modelled on the textiles machinery sector
should be attempted. Pilot projects with support from textiles machinery manufacturers in India, Pakistan or abroad should be initiated. |
|
|
4. |
A cost effective technology needs to be developed to improve the
environmental conditions inside the jute mills. |
|
|
|

Cooperation
in Technology Development : |
|
|
|
The PSCB decided to elicit/collect information on the technologies
developed by R&D Institutions in jute producing and consuming countries and which will
be compiled and sent to all Associate Members. Based on the feedback received,
further action to generate pilot-scale projects could be taken up. |

Joint
Market Development Programmes : |
|
|
|
The PSCB decided to form an Ad-hoc committee consisting of Industry
Members to take up joint market development programmes. |
|
|
| (m) |
Response
to buyers' problems : |
|
|
|
Reviewing the problems mentioned by Euro jute (in a letter to the Chairman
of the PSCB) the Board decided to invite their specific suggestions and invite them to the
next meeting of the PSCB for discussions. |
|
