The Lagan Jute Machinery Company Limited was established by the world leader of  Jute machinery Manufacturer,  James Mackie & Sons, U.K. in the year 1955 with an objective to manufacture and sell jute mill  machineries in India at affordable prices. The Company continued to be under the control of James Mackie & Sons, U.K. up to 1978 when it was taken over by the Government of India as a  Central Public Sector Undertaking. In July 2000, the Company was disinvested and its 74% stake was acquired by  Murlidhar Ratanlal Exports Limited  and since then it continued to operate  as Joint Venture Company with Government of India.

Objective  :-

1. To manufacture and sell  jute mill  machineries of global standard  at affordable prices and in quantity to meet industry’s requirements.

2. Innovate the existing technology machines for higher productivity.

3. To design and develop  new generation cost-effective machines.

Besides, it  maintains close liaison with Indian Jute  Industries  Research  Association  and  eminent  experts / consultants  in the field of process and machinery development.

Recently the Company  successfully completed Hydraulic Lifting  Platform in its venture to diversify .
