Lignin in jute makes the fibre resistant to easy microbial attacks, and provides better strength alongwith hardness and brittleness.

Chemical composition varies with plant age, retting, etc.

Lignin has advantages in some technical textile applications (like geo-textiles applications ) and disadvantage of lignin can be reduced in value added home textiles applications by chemical and biological routes.
